I just wanted to ask if anyone else with asthma is struggling with the fumes from vapes? I find vape fumes a real trigger for me and they seem to be everywhere.
I’ve just got on a train full of secondary school children and so many are vaping on the train and it’s setting off my lungs. Has anyone had a similar experience?

I haven't experienced being exposed to vapes, as most places have restricted their use and I believe that goes for train companies too. I'm not in the least bit surprised that the vapour has triggered your symptoms.
Personally, I would complain to the train company as they need to know that A) they need to make it clearer to customers that vaping is prohibited, or B) if vaping isn't banned on their trains, it is causing problems for customers and their health and a ban should be considered.
Yesterday, while at a supermarket buying stamps, the lady who served me had a bit of a rant about vapes (we were at the tobacco and vape counter). She was a mum and couldn't believe that vapes were clearly displayed, very colourful and tempting to youngsters. I had to agree with her as the display reminded me of being in an old fashioned sweet shop; very tempting. I know the sale of vapes is banned to the under 18s, but that's certainly no deterrent in this day and age. They're clearly marketed as the safe option to tobacco and the full impact on health is as yet unknown.
Just read this article on the BBC NEWS App. Never thought they were a “safer” option to cigarettes, and great for those who managed to use it as a tool to quit smoking and then Vaping, ….. but ….. sad for it to become a fruity fag option and appealing to young folk, and the nicotine content still hold the habit for ex smokers.
Nothing, except for pure, clean air is good for the lungs, but sadly not much of that about these days. Just have to carry on complaining and campaigning for cleaner air!
Yes, and it drives me round the bend. So many people seems to view vaping as 'safe' so it doesn't matter if they envelop everyone within a 15 foot radius in a cloud of steam or smoke or whatever it is.
Yep, if I get caught in someone’s exhaust outdoors it exacerbates my breathing difficulties.
I was under the impression that vapes are regarded like smoking and not allowed in public indoor spaces.
I would definitely report the vaping to the train company.
(Dogs every where are a huge problem for me too - I can’t use public transport now. My car is 20 years old and falling to bits - can’t find a used car that is pet free. Meep!)
Yep, although I've only experienced it walking down the street or when we've sat outside eating a meal.
Sorta got in trouble when I said too loudly, why would anyone want to inhale an air freshener directly into their lungs? Especially, when we already know they are bad for us when they are plugged into a wall 😂.
Vapers are mostly OK, but smokers are bad news for my lung. It's one of the reasons I rarely go to cities with "walking" areas, or hold my breath when going through airport entrances. The UK has a releatively minor percentage of smokers. After moving across the channel -- I found that there are way more smokers everywhere (France, Germany, Switzerland). If you want to poison yourself -- go ahead, but they cannot seem to comprehend they poison others.
Yep 💯 so much I now have to wear a neck warmer every time I go out one to keep the cold air from setting off my asthma so the air is somewhat warmer when I inhale and to keep the fumes from vapes, cigarettes and sometimes dirty diesel fumes my asthma has been worse since Christmas and at this last week at night.
Hi, yes I discovered years ago when they first came out. I had a guest staying and he stayed in his room and vaped. When I went into clean I had an asthma attack. I even had a guest wondering why she was all of a sudden having asthma symptoms. It was the fruity flavour that was flaring her up, after I suggested a different flavour she was fine. Thankfully they trigger smoke alarms off as well so I banned them for that reason and a polite notice they trigger asthma in some people. My room was completely redecorated as the smell from the man was ingrained in the walls, curtains everything, I really dislike them and it's awful how they are enticing children with them. It's already been linked to heart issues in young people and they are addictive. I just googled as well and it is banned on trains so you need to report it x
Ever been on a train of thought that derails into a soothing memory? Mine stops at an oriental lounge, where the hookah is the ticket to a grand journey. The locomotives vary—no-frills freight trains you snag for a song to the majestic ones that cost a pretty penny. But the high is in the journey, not the ticket's cost. For the frugal traveler seeking the luxe ambiance: choosing a top-notch stem over a full set is like flying first class on a coach budget. Looking for the most scenic route?
