I'm on holiday at the moment in Thailand arrived 5 days ago. My asthma treatment was getting better been on Trimbow for 2months. But almost immediately I've had nasty flare up due I think to hot temp and pollution. My GP prescribed 5 day course of Predislone to take with me when should I take it?

I'm on holiday in Thailand Arrived 5 days ago, my asthma was getting better with new meds Trimbow & Salamol 2 maths ago
I think if GP said use Prednisone then I would
You don’t want to let it get worse
You need to be well to enjoy your holiday
😊
You should start it now don't leave it till its got out of hand
Your GP presumably gave you the pred to use if you had a flare up, so I would be inclined to use it for your flare up.
However, in case things get worse, I would investigate as to how you see a Thai medic, and if still unsure go and see the medic.
I would also look to see if you could change Hotels to somewhere less polluted.
In Spain I had some similar issues down on the coast but we went to the mountains each day, which was lovely.
Take it now! Remember the humidity is quite high over there as well. All these things make our asthma harder to deal with. Enjoy your holiday!
Good replies Thailand. I'd definitely follow Homely's advice and find out a respiratory doctor wherever you are. Medical systems will be different there and you may even be able to purchase prednisolone and ventolin at a pharmacist. I'd definitely be wearing masks as I did recently flying to France - only a two hour flight, fumes at airports not to mention the same recycling air & germs inside the plane's cabin.Pollution is probably worse in the humidity. Good luck.....I hope you took out health insurance!
I agree with starting your emergency treatment now before things escalate. Thailand has a reputation for high humidity and in some locations, high pollution, which doesn't help.
Seek out a pharmacy where you can buy prescribed medicines, you usually have to show the pharmacist what you're taking in order for them to sell the meds. But ensure they're equivalent to your meds.
Healthcare can be expensive in Thailand so use your travel insurance as necessary and don't hesitate to seek additional treatment from appropriate respiratory services. Health advice is given in the attached link: smartraveller.gov.au/destin...
I'd increase Yr salbutamol, and take as often as needed - it is to relieve symptoms. When it's not enough, add in Yr prednisolone but see if u can get replacement pills ASAP x
Just to add to my previous post. Yes you can increase your salamol inhaler to help, while taking your emergency Prednisolone, but you can't increase your Trimbow inhaler because of the glycopyrronium bromide.
If the pharmacist offers you Ventolin or Salbutamol instead of Salamol, then that would be an equivalent medicine/inhaler to Salamol. They may also be able to provide additional Prednisolone to extend your steroid treatment beyond 5 days.
How long is your holiday? If you are staying for longer than your available Prednisolone treatment then definitely see a respiratory doctor if you're unable to secure additional Prednisolone from the pharmacist OR if your symptoms worsen.
Hope you make a swift recovery and are able to enjoy your holiday.
