hello all. Apologies it’s been a while. Hope you all had a good (and healthy) Xmas This time of year can be challenging for us asthmatics. & a Happy new year 🥳

So I was lucky enough to travel around Brazil with my adult daughter for 2mths returning on 14/12. A major first for me. Since being back my nose has been super tickly, runny nose, intensely itchy eyes and sometimes itchy roof of mouth. I do have a cat but don’t think it’s her as was away twice since returning with partner & still same symptoms. Saw GP who changed me from cetirizine to fexofenadine 180mg 1/day Had it a few days and not much improvement even when I was outside for a rugby match Am at a loss as to why these symptoms are persistent for over 2 weeks now. Any advice guys. I do think realistically it might just be re acclimatising to different surroundings but am impatient as symptoms are quite debilitating with sneezing fits. The eyes I could easily Rip out of my head if I had no willpower. I use sodium cromoglicate drops but again they don’t help much. Sorry for rant but know you understand the struggles On the plus side chest has been good am on spiriva & relvar.

Thanks in advance

😊

Hi, sounds like an amazing trip! The symptoms on returning not so great. Did the GP check inside your mouth/throat?If the fexofenadine isn't working then I'd try something like piriton? If that doesn't work then maybe it isn't allergies 🤷‍♀️

I use a different and in my experience better eye drop, Olopatadine. Maybe worth asking the GP for a prescription.

Hope things settle down for you x

hi. Thank you for your reply. No GP didn’t look in throat. GP reckoned there wasn’t any other eye drops available which why I love this forum. Such good advice on here. Thank you. If things don’t improve I’ll definitely check that out. 👍

Have you tried Montelukast? It really helped me with my nasal symptoms and improved the secondary effect that my nasal health had on my asthma. It doesn't work for everyone, but you'll know within a month whether or not it's helping. It works differently to antihistamines, so if they're not helping this may be an option.

Thank you. I was due to start these meds but as went travelling didn’t. Tbf my asthma was ok while away 😐 😁 Will give them a go. Good to know that if after a month nothing is better then at least I’ve tried it Here goes 🤞

My GP told me that It can take up to 3/4 weeks for Fexofenadine to fully work.
