Wool Blend Jumpers

I had a nasty day long asthma flare today, which is unusual at this time. In winter I normally have daily short, sharp attacks, very unpleasant but responsive to salamol.

This attack unusually took an hour coming on, so we did all the normal things, air purifiers on, clear the bins etc. Then it was seven hours or so of difficulty breathing, trouble walking and speaking etc, unresponsive for any time to salamol. So not nice, a bit scary.

My wife then suggested getting rid of everything that was new in any way that day and I took my new wool blend jumper off. My asthma then started to improve until it lifted totally.

This is a new one, my asthma seems to allergic to my jumper. I have lots of other wool jumpers, so it is not the wool per se.

This is a new one on me, any ideas.

When I buy or someone buys me new clothes I tend to wash them first before I wear them, Works for me hope it helps you.

Just had a thought it might not be the wool it may be because of the environment it was in, in the shop before you got it.

Try washing the jumper.

I once had a rough night with my asthma and through process of elimination realised it was due to the new bedding I had put on earlier in the day. Now anything like that goes in the washing machine before using.

I always wash new fabrics before using them as they often have a chemical-type smell, even if they are natural fabrics, when they come from the suppliers. It may be what they are packaged in, or perhaps a finishing wash applied during the manufacturing process?
