oxygen levels and exercise

does anyone find that there oxygen levels are fine when sitting but if they exercise including going for a decent length walk their oxygen levels drop significantly?

Mine do katherine thats why i was first put on the oxygen, now i have to use 4litres of oxygen everytime i mobilise but i must say when i move round the house i dont bother as alot of hastle but certainly when im out and it enables me to walk further!! which makes me tired but is a bonus physically and mentally. I also as you know need it at rest sometimes.

You may need a ambulatory oxygen assessment done at the costa by the nurse who sorts out o2 or physios sometimes, it just involes waliking with pulse ox on and gases:(

Good luck hunny

thanks for that was getting tad worried as mum keeps saying if I get tired etc prob heart (yelp) also wondering if was imaging it as most of time when sitting sats are 97-99% but def quite bit lower when moving. Nice to be a bit reassured.

mine used to be like that when still even when was breathless sats 97-99% but on exercise even gentle walking used to desaturate to late 80s!! not to panic you but heart probs can cause this aswell but with you having asthma would have thought it was more likely to be due to this easpecially as you just had such a bad do.

that does actually help. as he did my sats when was very breathless inoutpatients and they were normal which I think made him suggest I was hyperveterlating. am working on basis that if it was a heart prob they would have told me when was costafied as had echo and ecg then and as far as i know they were normal. it does help to find s'one else odd( sorry please don't take offence non meant.)

Katherine i have similar prolems,i had the test desat down 94% which they said wasnt quite low enough to justify oxygen!!!

/But i have had pericarditis on top of asthma type problems.

Katherine no offence taken im always told im odd!!! so me too am glad its not just me he he,

I was told its below 90% warrents o2.
