Those who take azythromycin prophylactic, what do you do when you get a chest infection (my rescue pack has doxycycline in it?)?

I take prophylactic Azithromycin in winter, I believe you're supposed to stop Azith when taking other abs and recommence afterwards. Best to get medical advice though.

Hi I was told not to stop the Azithromycin but to take it alongside whatever the doctor gave me.

It’s strange we get different advice. 😳

Yes, odd. Sometimes I wonder if GPs know what they're doing 🤔

Agreed! Especially when it comes to asthma. 🙄

I take doxycycline prophylactically so if I become unwell I stop that and start my rescue pack of Ciproflixacin.

The advice I have been given is stop azithromycin and start my emergency Doxycycline .

Hi,

I usually get a different antibiotic from the doctor.

I don’t have a ‘rescuepack’

I stop taking the Azithromycin and then start my rescue antibiotic Moxifloxacin. My consultant then likes me to take a break from the Azithro for about a month. But in the past I have been told to take them concurrently so advice has changed.
