Biological treatment

Good morning allI've been a sufferer of breathing problems for many years

And have been diagnosed with bronchiectasis and severe asthma and I'm currently awaiting biologic treatment.

I've been on the approved list since December I'm just wondering if anybody else in leicester has had treatment and just how long it took.

Hi John I have been having this treatment at Glenfield Hospital for the past 18 months.If I remember correctly I was approved in March 2021 and started the treatment in October 2021

Thx for the reply starstruckThat's not too bad then about 8mths I keep ringing Glenfield but unable to give any sort of timescale

Can I just ask is it working for you ?

Any side effects ?

I am still on 3mg a day of prednisolone so I am not totally sure how much they are working. But apart from having covid last October and a viral infection in December I have not had to increase the steroids since being on the biologics (bendrazmabs)

Next injection in June and if cortisol levels are ok they hope to lower the pred a bit more 🤞

I don't believe I have any side effects from them.

Best of luck with your treatment- I started them in 2006 but unfortunately for me they were ineffective and at that time very expensive.Wishing you all the the very best - do let us know how you get on.

( I wasn't on a waiting list for long before I had them but this was many years ago) Hope you get started soon x
