Hi, could anyone advise re these injections please. I've had 2 so far & the last couple of weeks my bowels have been hay wire, very bad wind & also leakages. They have certainly helped my asthma but wondered if these side effects settle down. I was ok after the 1st one but this 2nd one has had a completely different reaction. Any replies would be most welcome - thank you.

I have been taking mepolizumbab for about 6 years now and I live a perfectly normal life with hardly any asthma issues. I have never had the side effects that you’re having, it could be that it could be caused by something else. After a few months you will b in a better position to determine the cause, also you may wish to discuss this with your consultant. HNY

Hi, I took Mepo for a few months. almost staightaway I had back pain and muscle weakness in my legs. I decided to stop taking it last May. the back pain stopped but the muscle aches didn't. I decided to try another biologic in November ( Fasenra)which also has side effects (more muscle aches and affecting sleep) so probably will stop that too . asthma is helped but you have to weigh up the pros and cons. the clinic always deny the connection . give it a while for your body to adjust, things may settle down.

Hi, I have been talking the same injection for at least 5 years now, it does take time for your body to adjust to using it , I find that by taking this my asthma has improved significantly and I feel without it I would not be here to tell you this, it most certainly has given me my life back, for the past three years I have not needed to use my nebuliser which normally I would have to rely on…

I also take Montelukast at night & Relvar inhaler in the morning plus Spiriva inhaler these seem to work quite well for me plus I have my Ventolin inhaler as a back up when needed….. In my last visit to see my specialist he was very pleased with my results of the breathing test, he told me that I was doing remarkably well and that it seemed that my asthma was under control, I have to see him again in May…. Good luck with taking the medication don’t give up keep taking it in time I am sure that your body will get used to it and you will start to feel better. 👌🙏🏻👍🤞
