Seretide 250

Hi allI am new to the site and would like some info on how long it takes Seretide 250 to work in the system so that you can feel the benefits.I have been using this for the past 2 weeks as advised by the doctor, 2 puffs twice a day using an aero chamber.

I understand that we are all different but would like to know if this has or has not benefited anybody.

I have been perscribed Fostair 100/6 from the doctor along with lots of others in the past, so not sure how this would help with emphysema

This is my first post so not sure if it's in the right place.

Hi Roobie,

This forum focuses on asthma, so while you're very welcome here, you may find you get more answers on the Lung Conditions forum if you want to know about emphysema treatments and find how others have got on with them: healthunlocked.com/asthmalu...

For asthma, steroid inhalers can take 6-8 weeks to see a full effect, though the long-acting reliever part should help a bit sooner.

You can also call the respiratory nurses to chat this through: 0300 222 5800

Hi, I have COPD and asthma. I take seretide 250 2 puffs twice a day. Took this for almost 10 years and hospital changed it to fostair for about a year. The side effects awful so back to the good old seretide. It took about a month for me to feel ok again so probably the same for you? Starting off. If Im really unwell they increase seretide to 4 puffs twice a day but do try to drop back to the 2. Its long acting preventer with steroid so should help. I've taken spiriva for 10 years for COPD its my miracle inhaler. There are lots of medication to help you its finding whats suitable for you. Best wishes.x

Thanks for the info.I will persevere for a few moir weeks and take it from there.

Take care.

Hi Roobie, so sorry you're struggling. I had seretide for a while - it really helped, and the spacer is important because it helps to prevent the fungal infections which are quite a common side-effect. I found it helped me quite quickly. Good luck :)

Hi Robbie, I couldn't use Fostair. Made me most unwell. I have been on Seretide for many years. This works well for me. Hope you have had someone show you how to use the spacer and leave at least a minute or two between second puff. Try also to use it at the same times every day. Hope this works, but sometimes you have to try different ones to find what suits you

Thanks for that. I am using it exactly how you state.

Will keep persevering for the next few weeks and see if things improve.

Have a nice weekend.

I was on that dose of seretide unfortunately I only lasted 6 weeks on it as I couldn't tolerate it.... it gave me really bad insomnia (which they tell me it shouldn't do, but it did) ... sad really as my peak flow and breathing was the best it's ever been

I would say it takes time for the steroid to build up in your system and 2 weeks probably isn't long enough for it to fight back all ifnthe inflammation

It can take up to 3 months depending on the severity of inflamation in the airways
