Seretide inhaler

I have been on Seretide 250 for many years now and use it every day. I find that if I am having a bit of trouble with my breathing, I take 2 puffs and remember to count to 10 on each inhale. I only need to double up for about 3 days, thing go back to my 1 a day. Keep trying the Seretide and remember to use it correctly.

HI TdJacks and thanks for sharing your experience. Did you mean for this to be a reply on this post about Seretide? If it was, it's best to reply to the post directly instead of creating a new one, so people can see the whole discussion: healthunlocked.com/asthmalu...

I also wanted to flag for others reading that Seretide isn't really meant to be used that way, unless it's part of your plan as agreed by your GP/asthma nurse/consultant. Some inhalers (certain strengths of Symbicort and Fostair) can be used for extra reliever puffs as part of a MART (Maintenance and Reliever Treatment) plan, but that needs to be discussed with a healthcare professional first, as it's not suitable for everyone.

Freestyling, especially with an inhaler not meant to be used that way, isn't the best idea - it might be worth considering whether a switch to a different preventer with a MART regimen might work for you. Though I totally understand you might not want to mess with something that works - so ideally please let your GP/asthma nurse know what you're doing, if you haven't already.

If you already have then ignore me on this, but I want to emphasise for others reading that like any medication adjustments, this is best discussed with healthcare professionals and not done as an experiment at home.

Just a thought about your intake of Seretide 250, you didn't mention using a spacer. This is makes a big difference to the delivery. Also a consistency of use as prescribed allows your body to cope, but additional use can have a detrimental effect, maybe refer to your GP for more confirmation as to the best way to deal with your situation. Take care.
