I was recently diagnosed with asthma by the respiratory team at the hospital after x-rays and a stay in hospital for a serious chest infection last year and struggling since.
i was given an easyhaler whilst waiting to see my doctor (this was prescribed based on the hospital test reports) and get on fine with that. I’ve just been given a ‘pulmicort turbohaler’ to take morning and night - it may sound silly but I feel like nothing is coming out? With the easyhaler I can feel little bits of powder and with this it just feels like I’m breathing in through a straw if that makes sense so I feel like it’s a dud (is that even possible?).. can someone let me know if it’s completely normal as there isn’t a numbered dose counter on it either so I just have no idea!
Thank you xx

I’m on the Symbicort turbohaler and found the same thing after moving onto it from Fostair. With Fostair I could feel the gritty powder but not at all with the Symbicort turbohaler. I think the powder is much finer so you don’t notice it at all and hopefully it gets into the lungs much better.
Check out the inhaler technique videos on the asthma.org .uk pages just to make sure you’re using it correctly.
if this inhaler is a dry powder inhaler which you have to suck on rather than one with a gas canister, they tend to have finer granules which you barely notice added to by sucking it tends to go where it is supposed to.
