Duoresp Spiromax Vs Symbicort Turbuhaler

I have been on Symbicort Turbuhaler for a few years and it has been fine.

When I last went to get my script filled, the pharmacist asked if I wanted to try the Duoresp Spiromax - said it was exactly the same as Symbicort, but a better delivery method/easier to use inhaler.

I used it for 2 nights. Both nights I had excessive mucus in my throat and found it hard to swallow. Also had a dry tickle that made me cough. Also got lumps/ulcers on the roof of my mouth.

Switched back to Symbicort and the excessive mucus/tickly cough went away. Lumps/ulcers are gradually getting better.

Anyone else had similar experience?? Thank you.

No, I have used DuoResp Spiromax 320/9 dry powder inhaler for many years and it's by far the most effective inhaler I've ever been prescribed in my 48 years of asthma, (I started with asthma at the age of 29.) I can't praise it enough.

I have always used inhalers both morning and evening.

Thank you. I may try it again but in the morning - at least then if I get same symptoms it won’t affect my sleep.

I’m in the US and use Symbicort puffer. It gives me terrible post nasal mucus. Thinking of going back to Breo when I see my pulmonary this week.

Thank you. I’m in Australia. Not sure what other options we have, but probably time to talk to my GP about trying something different!

The patient's leaflet advises rinsing your mouth after use, but I haven't and had no problems, but we are all different.

Thank you. I rinse my mouth and gargle after each use, but still have problems.

I have only used symbicort and I was diagnosed at 30. After having pneumonia during covid I now use a spacer every day to take the inhaler. I also have excessive mucus and take carbocistine to combat that. But excessive mucus only started after I had pneumonia.
