I started on xolair a couple of weeks ago. A week camping saw my asthma go worse - no doubt seasonal allergies making it worse. Another week of steroids.
I was given a nuvo air spirometer to use at home - it is a great piece of kit but it simply shows how bad my lung function is. 50% FEV.
I have been like this for seven years. I have worked full time but lately things have got so bad I accept now that it is only a matter of time before work becomes impossible - even minor things are beginning to feel like climbing a mountain.

It would sound like it is time for you to see a consultant. GPs can be great, but they follow the NICE guidance pathway for asthma, and are not asthma specialists. You can find the NICE pathway on the internet, it is useful to have, so you can see what the next steps may be. I did, I had been on the max dose of fluticasone for 15 years and it was no longer working, I did some research and campaigned for Ciclesonide, which I have now started.
Hi give xolair time to kick in and it will change your life! I feel like I’ve lost 10-12 years of my life with my asthma simply disabling me. Xolair has been a massive game changer for me and given me my mobility and life back.
I would give it time tbh. A couple of weeks is nothing. A few months at least! I’ve been on xolair for about 5 years now & it’s been a complete game changer. From endless hospital admissions, eating ventolin, unable to enjoy life I now barely take my ventolin 6 times a year. Fingers crossed it will work for you and if it doesn’t then probably one of the other biologicals will. Good luck x
I did not get it ... did you go camping 2 weeks after starting on X? If yes, you need to give it 4-6 months. I know you want to to keep doing what you love, but your immune system needs to rebuild itself... it operates on a much slower time scale. It took me years on X before I could run marathons again.
