Toddler breathing issues during sleep

Our 3yo daughter has recently developed asthma like symptoms, post covid. We have been prescribed with an inhaler, which we have used sporadically when she has needed it.

Her breathing seems most erratic when she is asleep, we try to watch for all of the signs that she may be struggling for breath, as well as counting how fast she is breathing. Yet, it is still really difficult to be able to distinguish if she is really struggling and needs a few puffs of her inhaler (or if we need to take her into A&E). Does anyone who has similar experiences have any advice, or suggestions that would help us know how severe the situation is? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Has she been given a preventative inhaler or purely ventolin? Does she react positively when given ventolin? I think if ventolin eases symptoms for up to 4 hours then keep using but anything less than 4 hours you should call 111 or 999. BUT I am not a doctor and really you should be insisting on gp or asthma nurse giving you an action plan so that you are fully aware of what action you should take. If in any doubt you must seek medical advice.Strongly suggest you ring the helpline on this site and speak to the nurses who are best placed to advise you.
