Sounds more like anxiety or Vocal Cord Dysfunction.

No, not at all. This sounds like something else and could be anxiety, breathing dysfunction, vocal chord dysfunction, reflux or post nasal drip. If this is an ongoing symptom I would work with your doctor to investigate why this keeps happening and to diagnose the underlying cause in order to get the right treatment. Keeping a symptom diary can help with identifying patterns and causes.

Yess. I think I'm one of the few people who has constriction of the throat when my asthma flares. It is NOT anxiety, it is not voice box disorder. It is Allergic asthma as evidenced by high eosinophills. I have never had too much of the chest tightening, but I do get where it feels like air is only getting in half way, sometimes there is wheezing, sometimes no wheezing. Asthma comes with so many different symptoms and I've had this throat constriction as one of my main early symptoms and then I reach for the prednisone. I know exactly how you feel.

Yes it’s horrific it’s my worst symptom. Spray aerosols are my worst trigger for that. It’s so stressful 😭

I don’t have any wheezing or coughing with my asthma. Am fairly new to asthma and working my way through different inhalers. My worst triggers have been rain, cold air and aerosols 😩

Yes! First time when after lockdown went to Australia to stay with our son and family - not happened before but seemed to coincide with high dust and dander levels in the air. I mentioned it to the consultant when we returned and she agreed with me. I have high IgE and high Eosinophils and now waiting for an appointment at severe asthma clinic at Tertiary hospital. Fingers crossed for appointment some time during the autumn. On 40 mgs Prednisolone daily at present due possibly to visiting Oxford for family wedding and hey ho, mould spore levels were high. I find I am extremely affected by what is happening with the air quality and have been like this since February 2021. Good luck everyone with your challenges to breathe.

Yes I mentioned to my asthma nurse today that my tonsils appear to have moved back and when I swallow my throat feels tight.
