GP Told me to contact my asthma nurse

Although this sounds a bit nasty on my brilliant doctors practice, but after a short admission to my local hospital were the doctor said that I need my medication altered, I contacted my doctor and he updated my medication. When I asked about having to use my rescue inhaler every day he said that he always advises patients to contact their Asthma Nurse as they know them better than him and their requirements, and are also more qualified in his opinion with regards asthma and can also contact your consultant directly and get a rapid response from a more qualified person.

I wish all GP's had this in mind, as I have read many times about patients complaints about their own Medical Practice

My GP would say the same! Anything generally to do with my asthma they say the AN knows more and is the better option to see! And I have amazing care from my practice! Hope you’re feeling better after your admission?!

In my case it's the other way around my doctor knows me better than my asthma nurse and now other than the new patient appointment I actually refuse to see any and all female doctor/ nurse ( unless it's for blood) including the asthma nurse doctor has spoken to my next of kin about this and has understanding when at least 5 asthma nurses don't listen to your mother or you over an allergic reaction to proventer inhaler and land you in A & E plus you already don't trust the female staff ( I'm female myself so work that out) it's only wise for doctor to be incharge of my full list of conditions.

It is sad to hear that your own experiences are not as good as mine. Sometimes in A & E the doctor do their tick boxes and as we know our body and what what you are feeling I will say please call in the respiratory team as they have told me to tell A&E to contact them should I be in A&E for them to make the diagnosis appropriate to my 4 critical lung problems.I do not conform to A&E Tick boxes, But do any of us ?

I've had a lung consultant for the last few years due to having Colon Cancer and a lymph node in my lung ( had to have part of my lung removed as a result ) but lung consultant said that my breathing was very good and I actually don't need a asthma nurse my GP seems to have the right treatment for me and my heart and lungs actually tested close to that of a marathon runner because of how well I look after myself ( I looked at them odd as I am a big lady and I do smoke and exercise is not a easy thing for me to do due to having spinal damage) but I even remember the person who tested my heart looking at me, looking at the test then looking again and asking are you X or do I have the wrong person when I said that is me why what's wrong is my heart beat too quiet I was told forgive me no quite the opposite so I thought I was looking for someone who was like a marathon runner as these do not fit your build or records at all but its your information you have a very healthy heart and lungs I asked if it was hospital April's fool's lol

It sounds like you have been through the mincing machine but you have come out the other side with a positive attitude {Like Myself you are dealt the cards and you have to play what you have got} My wife self and family wish all the best for the future and when you do the London marathon give us a wave.
