Still coughing and clearing throat but flow getting higher

So my flow chart used to be anything from 150 to 225. I was wheezy, coughing and weight on my chest etc. I've started steriods 2 days ago (6 tablets every morning) and feel like it's working in the day but it's still flaring up at night. But I've just done the flow test at 2am and I've actually hit 350. Working behind the scenes I'm guessing😂

Hi Blouise1504

For me it takes 5-10 days of steroids to work

Peak flow should be understood amongst other symptoms

And asthma always worse at night!

Just some thoughts from my experience

Asthma nurse and/or Asthma Uk helpline can be very helpful

Good luck!

Great news. Like you I feel different within 24 hours. Try not to eat too much though when you're on them!

They said that would be a side effect but thankfully it's not happened to me😂 I'm on my last day tomorrow but I'm not sure if I should ring up again for more as I'm still pretty bad at night to the point i was thinking of ringing 111 last night I'm not sure tho

I would ring your GP. It's often better to be proactive now than drag it out and have to wait again while the steroids kick in again after a gap - especially as you were on the verge of phoning 111 last night. It could be you just need a few more days as they did seem to be helping.

Thank you I've contacted them just waiting for a call back from my doctor :)

If you feel short of breath and are worried it wouldn’t hurt to call 111 rather than wait. Better to sort it early rather than wait and it gets worse.
