So since being told I have dysfunctional breathing, I have started back running each time I have been I keep having asthma attacks. This has happened 6 times in 4 weeks, it take me 2 days to feel better as I feel exhausted, I do have a review next week with the Gp should I mention this or will this just calm down once I get used to running again. I haven’t been for 1 year due to being unwell, I can run for 5-10 mins before the attacks start.

Hi, you should definitely tell your GP, you need to get your asthma under control. Not to state the obvious but you need to build up slowly with exercise, also nose breath only. This will prevent attacks and help control your breathing.
Definitely mention it. It might not be asthma causing the issues given your recent investigations. If that's the case, respiratory physio will help with exercise as well as more stationary breathing stuff. But also maybe it is asthma related. Difficult for us to know (I know you're not actually asking us to know!) but when there's other stuff at play, your GP needs to take it all into account m
Thank you, I will definitely mention it. It feels like an asthma attack but Iv not had many before my asthma was controlled. I had covid early last year and this all happened since then, hopefully over time I can get my body used to exercise again
That's the thing with dysfunctional breathing. It totally mimics asthma in presentation. And can be just as debilitating - is it's not the same as "sit down for 5 mins and you're done". But the physio is very good.
And post covid is very much more that side of breathing pattern issue than asthma so, if it did stem from that for you, it might tick both boxes. (I'm hoping it does for you anyway!)
I think montelukast is recommended for exercise induced asthma....try asking your GP.
Oh tell GP. They might be able to help and in any case it adds to your particular pattern of asthma and helps them form a picture of what happens to you.
