Hello I’m in group 4 for the vaccine and was just wondering how you are called up for it as I’ve heard different things ? I’ve heard you will get a letter / email / text just wondering what the normal form of communication is ? I’ve also heard you are given a date and time in the letter but someone else told me you book on the gov Uk website ?? many thanks
Vaccine : Hello I’m in group 4 for the... - Asthma Community ...
Vaccine
I think it might vary from area to area. My grandma has had both her vaccines and our GP surgery called to book them (followed up after by letter). It wasn't done there but at another local GP practice. News reports say people in group 4 will get letters inviting them. I mean news reports are 99% tosh so that might not be true anyway - and yes I also read the thing about a national booking service which I sincerely hope is not a thing because carnage is all that will happen there given test and trace still doesn't work 6+ months after it was set up.....
I hope if they do send letters then they arrive with people more promptly than many of the shielding letters....but honestly I think it's just a case of wait and see and that not every area will necessarily be the same. Most group 4 people who've had it by now will also be health care workers and so their contact to get it done may have been different.
I received a text this morning, inviting me to click a link in order to make my appointment at a joint GP Practice Hub in my town. I usually receive texts from my GP practice and the NHS so I knew it was legit. The link took me through registration and offered me dates and several appointment times to chose from. Having selected a date & time and confirming my choice, I received a confirmation text of my appointment and location of Hub. I'm signed up with my GP practice for digital services, prescription renewals, alerts and appointments etc.
Ok cool I’m registered with my doctors for text messages etc so hopefully they contact me that way I drove past our vaccine centre this morning and it was packed with cars queuing to get in I’m hoping I’m soon so I can get back to work ASAP
I understand that we still have to shield until we're advised it's OK to relax restrictions. With 12 weeks before the 2nd vaccination is given it's going to be a while before normality returns. And we know that we can still contract the virus despite being vaccinated and there's a possibility of passing it on if we're infected.
I’ve been told 3 weeks potentially after my vaccine I should be able to go back as long as I’m careful / sensible plus work are happy for me to be back once I’ve got the first dose in my system as a nursery practitioner we are still open I’ve also been told by my doctor he thinks that once shielding is suppose to finish on the 21st feb from the 22nd it will be personal choice to shield similar to November lockdown who knows
