Hi.

I have Bronchiectasis. Is there a treatment clinic I can be invited to attend, when it’s safe. I live in Northumberland.

Maybe checking with your gp is best as they know what resources are available in your catchment.

Good idea. Thanks

I guess it depends where you live and therefore what specialists are available at your local hospital. Ours has 2 consultants specialising in cystic fibrosis and non-CF bronchiectasis. You might be able to find out by looking at your local hospital's web-site, going to respiratory services and scrolling down the consultants to see what their special interests are. Otherwise ask your GP the same question. Sadly I have seen a general resp. consultant who knew nothing about bronchiectasis.

Thank you for your reply. My professor is actually on the list. I'm back to him in 3 months time, to see how Azithomicin is doing, so I'll have a word with him then. I must admit to being lazy about lung clearance... So I need a bit of a kick up the bum to get me started and take better care of myself.

Hi

Like the others you may get more info from your GP or consultant. You may also want to post on the BLF forum which caters for all resp issues not just asthma, or join a Facebook bronchiectasis support group to see if anyone there has the answer for you.

For bronchiectasis I think the treatments tend to be antibiotics (either long or short term) as well as physio/pulm rehab to help you learn chest clearance techniques (which you can ask GP/con to refer you for).

I hope this helps.

Hi Emma. He's (consultant) just put me on Azithomicin for 3 months, then I go back to see him. I've just said to another reply, that I'm a bit lazy with lung clearance, I need to get this in hand before it's gets worse. I've put a new pair of lungs on my Christmas list. 😉
