Hello, I am looking for an online social group (Xbox etc) for my son when he is too unwell to go to school. Are there any good/safe ones pls

My son is nearly 12 and always has a lot of time off school over winter. It makes it hard with social groups at school as he can be excluded once he has been off for a couple of weeks - even online. I’m looking for groups of other children who are in the same situation so get it!

Thanks for your help.

Hi

Have you tried getting into contact with your local home schooling network? (On FB groups etc). They often can be connected with each other to help their kids socialise. The other thing is starting an activity not based at school as they are less likely to ‘forget’ someone as they have more in common and opt to spend time together rather than school where it is forced. This probably isn’t viable rn esp as we head into winter but it’s an idea for the future 😅

The other thing to try is joining a FB group and asking there. You’ll have a greater reach esp if you find a group focused on parents of kids with asthma etc. There’s also always the option of getting a mate or 2 to come round a few times a week after school - that keeps the contact, he gets kept in the loop of any gossip and the connections between him and his mates stay strong/get stronger.

Hope these ideas help!
