Xolair and UTI’s

Good morning everyone, hope someone can throw some light on this.

I had my third Xolair injection two weeks ago and it seems to be really helping my asthma which is brilliant however last month I started suffering from urgent urinary frequency and cystitis symptoms for a few weeks and now again this month. I have looked up the side effects for Xolair and it did mention in the ‘rare’ side effect section that this can indeed happen, has anyone else heard of this or is suffering the same thing? I am praying it will go away as I don’t want to have to stop having them. Any information would be so appreciated, many thanks in advance.

That’s interesting. I get a UTI at least once a year and have done for years but this year I’ve been getting more and they’re lasting a long time. I started Xolair properly in Feb this year so I wonder if that’s got anything to do with it. But I don’t know. I guess I don’t plan on coming off Xolair as being able to breathe ranks higher for me (not that Xolair has made a huge difference but it has a little). Fingers crossed your symptoms start to settle 🤞

Thanks for your reply Mogget. It’s interesting what you say... I am a woman ‘of that age’ where you can expect things associated with the menopause but am really hoping it will settle. I will email my respiratory nurse this week and query it with her, and will keep you updated.

That’s interesting because I had my 3rd xolair injection last week and started experiencing UTI symptoms for a few days but I didn’t link the two together

It is very interesting isn’t it Claire- Rose.. I didn’t think there was a link last month but this month it seems too coincidental. I will keep you updated 👍🏼
