Asthma
What do you want to know?
The patient information for it says this....
"Trimbow is a medicine to help breathing that contains the three active substances:
beclometasone dipropionate,formoterol fumarate dihydrate andglycopyrronium.
Beclometasone dipropionate belongs to a group of medicines called corticosteroids which act to reduce the swelling and irritation in your lungs.
Formoterol and glycopyrronium are medicines called long-acting bronchodilators. They act in different ways to relax the muscles in your airways, helping to open the airways wider and allowing you to breathe more easily.
Regular treatment with these three active substances helps to relieve and prevent symptoms such as shortness of breath, wheezing and cough in adult patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Trimbow can reduce exacerbations (flare-ups) of COPD symptoms. COPD is a serious long-term disease in which the airways become blocked and air sacs inside the lungs become damaged, leading to difficulty breathing."
I don't use it myself, hadn't actually heard of it til I googled it 😅. But everyone reacts differently to different medications so like with all inhalers some people will find it great while others won't.
Thank you
Hi
I think this inhaler is aimed more at people with COPD than just asthma? Do you have COPD as well??
😊
This is a relatively new inhaler. It seems some people with copd aren’t given it because they’re told it’s mainly for people with asthma, and vice versa. There seems to be some confusion among health care workers as to who this inhaler is best suited for. It’s a 3 in 1 inhaler so replaces your 3 inhalers and you just take one, which seems a lot easier! I haven’t used Trimbow, I’ve been keen to try it, some people say it’s the best thing ever and has really improved their life. As with every inhaler, there are those who say their breathing deteriorated with Trimbow. I hope it helps you 😊
It's a combination of a LABA & LAMA inhaler. When the usual combo LABA inhaler doesn't control asthma, (e.g. Fostair, Symbicort, Seretide) then an additional inhaler from the LAMA family will be prescribed (eg Spiriva). However, there are now a couple of inhalers that combine all 3 meds, steroid/long acting bronchodilator/long acting muscarinic.
If you're not getting on with the triple combo inhaler then you can ask for two separate inhalers, one LABA & one LAMA, eg Fostair & Eklira Genuair or Symbicort & Spiriva- or whatever combo suits you. By using two inhalers you can also have the option of taking more LABA when you have flare ups, which may not be an option with the triple inhaler because of the LAMA.
