How many times have you needed your blue? Do you mean immediately struggling or in general struggling?

Not really been using my blue inhaler I have a pink inhaler I use morning and night I mean more generally struggling

I would take your blue one...1-2 puffs as directed by your dr or asthma nurse. See if that helps first

Also do you have an asthma plan? Has you peakflow dropped?

I’m newly diagnosed so I don’t have a plan in place or an asthma nurse

Hmm, it’s so unhelpful when drs /asthma nurses don’t give you a plan...especially when it’s new to you! If you are really struggling for breath and can’t speak in whole sentences then call 111 or 999.

But if your blue ventilin inhaler helps, and you feel better with it I’d recommend you ring your GP in the morning and explain how you feel& ask them for an asthma plan.

My peak flow is just below 250

Do you know what your personal best is?

Maybe worth ringing 111 anyway for some advice.

Everytime I’ve done my peak flow it’s been around 250

Thanks for your replies

Personally as you are newly diagnosed without an asthma plan I would ring 111 just to make sure you are ok.

Just don’t want you ending up with a full on asthma attack during the night!!

I’ve taken my pink inhaler and feel a bit better. I may need my blue one.

I think I may take my meds and try and get some sleep

Have you got a spacer? Remember you need to get the air out as well as in. You can also try and sitting on a chair backwards, sounds silly but it can help lift the rib cage up and make it more comfortable.

Yeah I’ve got an aero chamber spacer

in reply toAnonymous1988

If you get really bad and you think you need to go to hospital then you can take 8 puffs into spacer, it acts as a nubuliser.

Thank you :)

Even if you are feeling better I would still ring your GP in the morning as they obviously haven’t made sure you understand how to deal with your asthma. Your GP or asthma nurse needs to go through an asthma plan with you so you know what to do.

Hope you feel better soon and like Gsp said, you can take up to 8 puffs of blue...but if you are that bad you need to ring 999!

Sorry! We all understand that feeling well and how isolating it can be even if you're getting medical care and are near loved ones. How are you doing today?
