Change in my asthma

I have just started taking Montelukast and just before lock down my Fostair was increased to 200/6 after a bad period of asthma. This was unusual and I normally struggle with my asthma in the winter months and not spring / summer.

I am controlling my asthma at the moment but it has changed where I now feel breathless every morning and it’s always in the background throughout the day. I have been told by a number of people with asthma they are seeing a change in the asthma.

Yes MikeMaxi, my asthma is changing. Its definitely getting worse this year...actually the past few years. But it was a really hot summer for us so maybe that had part to do with it?

Hope you feel better with Fostair & montelukast

Hi this year has been a dreadful year for my asthma its completely changed over the past 9 months.

Also on fostair 200/6 (recently changed from relvar in hospital last week) , montelukast, tiotropium, loratadine, piriton 12mg, avamys, prednisolone maintenance dose and awaiting to hear about the amazing biologics!

Maybe partly the heat? Maybe partly covid-19 =stress levels..? I don't know but a lot of people seem to be struggling more so this year.

I hope you get on OK with meds and asthma settles down for you. 🙂

Hello, sorry to hear this and hope you feel better soon. If you are not happy with the way you are feeling, definitely speak to your healthcare provider. I also started taking montelukast recently. It did take about 4 weeks to fully kick in, and I know that for some people it can take 5-6 weeks. Hope you feel better soon!

Mine has been worse than ever this year too. I thought it might be related to pollen, but we're out of pollen season now. I suspect the increased stress this year is playing a part.

For me I'm also only experiencing one environment (working from home) all day, rather than going to and from the office. I do try to get some exercise each day to replace the commute but I'm sure being in the same 3 rooms all the time also plays its part.
