Hi there. My asthma has definitely been worse since the lockdown. I gave up working (carehome) regrettably, because of my vulnerability with asthma and since then ive had a tight chest, phlegm and chesty cough since! I think to be honest working in health care all my life has been good somehow, perhaps it's the more sterile environment and the immunity ive built up to the elderly lol. Ive had steroids and antibiotics since being at home. Ive tried really hard to get out walking and cycling and I do wear a mask mainly because of the hayfever! If you take inhalers and tablets just make sure you take regularly and monitor your peak flow and if things don't improve speak to your asthma nurse. Stay positive and stay safe x

Yes I did actually before lockdown when I was self isolating with a chest infection and a few Covid symptoms, even with antibiotics and 2 courses of pred I was still coughing and using my reliever and it suddenly occurred to us that I’m never in the house for so long without going out could I be reacting to something so started antihistamines and have been right since.

Do you think you are allergic to something in your home then?

Possibly, but no idea what it could be?

I am 63 and all my life through working and having children I always feel better when outside my home .Ive even said to my grown up children I'm going to dread being old and living inside a home cause I won't be able to breathe there's something in houses what effects my asthma .

Yes it as always affected my asthma to stay inside any house probably allergies . Since lockdown ive managed it well taking numerous medication and sitting as much as possible in the garden , fortunately my hayfever doesn't start until late August thank the lord . hopefully I will be back at work by then there I have no problem with my breathing .

My asthma is much better, probably due to the less-polluted air.

My asthma has most definately raised its game during lockdown ..... there has been a pattern since lockdown 2 to 3 days feeling really chesty / generally not well , very out of condition with increased phlegm. Followed by 2 to 3 days of feeling ok increased energy levels even if slightly out of breath when active ( but not overly uncomfortable). My asthma has been so well controlled for years, I'm not taking this change well LOL . I feel it may have crept up on me since Dec when for the first time in years I was off work with a chest infection. I found this discussion really reassuring ...... thought it was just me x

I’ve found it worse too (have recently started a course of pred) which I’ve found odd considering I’m not having to rush around in the office anymore. I think it might be lockdown coinciding with increasing levels of pollen. But I always find it difficult to pinpoint my triggers as I generally experience some degree of breathlessness all the time.

I was like that until I started to take monkelust.

I’ve also been struggling in lockdown! Never usually have a problem with my asthma and the last 2 months I’ve been on steroids, 2 courses of antibiotics, a new inhaler, montelukast. Don’t know what’s going on!

Hi. How are you getting on now, I have been through a very similar experience, its hell isnt it. Wouldnt be able to go out anyway when like this, let alone with the lock down.

Hi wiserlady, I’m still struggling! I’ve been given 2 new inhalers since this post. The first one helped but I couldn’t stay on it due to it not agreeing with me. I’m now on Qvar but still struggling with wheezing and a tight chest. How are you doing?
