I have severe asthma and been on and off steroids for a month now due to a flare up, been feeling poorly again today after tapering them off and think I'll have to re-start them again, but just done my FEV1 on my little Vitolagraph monitor I bought off Amazon and while my FEV1 has come down since last week my Peak Flow has gone up. I have a theory that my asthma is in my small airways and they lag behind the large airways in my lungs when I'm recovering. Not that the consultant ever suggests this (bangs head against wall...) does anyone else find this?

My asthma nurse has this theory about my lungs. She explained that day to day medication sometimes doesn't reach the small tracts leaving asthma uncontrolled. The longer it's left, the longer it will take to heal.
Some inhalers have smaller particles and are better at treating the hard to reach smaller airways.
A chest consultant I saw said I needed an inhaler to get deep into my lungs and she changed me to the Fostairnexthaler . Since then my asthma has been controlled better. x Anita
