Probiotics and Peak Flow Improvement

Hi folks, I want to share this experience I am having with taking probiotics, which has been hugely beneficial to me.

I started taking probiotics to help my digestive system, which was constantly angry and uncomfortable and absolutely nothing to do with my asthma.

Probiotics can replace your gut microbes which may have been affected by antibiotics or alcohol. The results for me were immediate and my stomach and intestines are all calm and happy, I have so much more energy and going to the toilet is more routine.

After a week or so purely by chance I noticed my asthma was improving, which I believe is down to the physical reduction of inflammation in my digestive system and midriff, giving me more lung capacity and room to breath freely.

Two weeks after taking the priobiotics I have now reduced my asthma medication by 30%.

The best part however is my peak flow has increased by 20%. This is nothing short of a miracle for me, no medication or exercises I have ever tried in 30 years has come close to this improvement.

This won't work for everyone and was a chance side effect, but it's worth bearing mind.

Good for you.

Asthma for many, including myself, has a linkage to Gerd. So I definitely find if I can make my stomach happy, it removes one of the causes of my asthma.

Thanks so much for sharing this information. Very interesting that it's had such a beneficial effect for you. So is it a daily tablet or Yogurts you are having. I once tried a specific type of Yogurt. That really affected my gut and not in a good way. Brian

sometimes Pre-biotics are also good to take, as well as pro-biotics and they ‘feed’ the good bacteria.

I am taking Bio-Kult in pill form, but there are plenty of other products around including the yoghurts and stuff as Bingo88 suggests. I began by taking x2 a day, which had an immediate affect. After a few days they were making me a bit lightheaded, not sure why, so cut down to one a day and now I take one every other day, which seems to be the right level for me.

It sounds like your digestive system has a lot to do with your asthma listening to your account. You may have been experiencing silent reflux at night when in bed that was irritating or inflaming your airways unbeknownst to you. Therefore keeping the sytem less inflamed including the use of probiotics is helping. Brilliant!

Just ordered the biokult ones will see how I get on. I also drink the kefir which is good I like it as a drink regardless of any benefits.
