Is anyone else experiencing bad asthma especially recently with COVID-19 going on. I have found since this has all come about my asthma has become worse day by day. Two weeks ago I had an asthma attack and had to go into hospital, each day it’s been on and off all throughout the day and today I’ve woken up on my birthday to a very bad chest and wheezing ☹️

I am sorry to hear that you are ill on your birthday! I hope that you get a better chance to celebrate.
As for the asthma, could it be related to the increase in pollen? Are there any other triggers that you can think of? Since all this started, I have had a bad cold and once that settled my asthma kicked off. The increased steroids seem to be helping. These things are a normal part of life and it just so happens that the crisis is happening at the same time. I hope you are able to get the right treatment. Take care of yourself and get better. And postpone your birthday and enjoy when you are well. x
It could be heightened anxiety due to all the news about the coronavirus. But it could equally be due to tree pollen.
Do you have an asthma plan that shows how much to increase your meds by when symptoms are worse? Normally an increase in inhalers over time will bring things under control.
If you haven't got a plan then talk to your asthma nurse/doctor about treatment and a plan.
I'm postponing my birthday until all this coronavirus thing is over. I'll be like the Queen - two birthdays 😁 If you can, treat yourself to something nice now and plan a celebration for a future date.
Stay safe.
It could definitely be anxiety about current events. My asthma got worse as soon as I started to read about asthma and covid-19. And as someone who has suffered with a panic disorder before, I know it isn't just a coincidence. I had my first panic attack for a good year or two (which caused a mild asthma attack) the other night after reading about this virus all day. My advice would be to be cautious but also as level-headed as you can be. First eliminate anything else it could possibly be (allergies? Something you've just started eating or drinking?) and if you believe it is stress then just remember that although this virus is a very serious matter, ruining your immune system by increasing your stress will not help if the worst case does happen. What I'm doing to try to stop myself getting seriously anxious and ill is that I'm simply saying that if it happens I'm going to give my body and mind the best shot at overcoming it. And ruining months of my life in a state of panic will not help whether I get it or not. Be cautious but don't panic. We've got this. Take care of yourself. And sorry for the essay.
Thank you very much. Xxx
I have been isolating now for 2 weeks, I have found my chest being tight, but realising it’s probably my anxiety of being stuck indoors all day. I had my letter from the NHS today which really shocked me (even though I knew it was coming) made it more real and the stress made me feel more breathless and tight. Are you worrying quite a lot? There’s so much going on right now it’s hard not to worry.
