Hello,
as I know there are a number of us with CVA and certain asthma's that are aggravated by Acid Reflux (GERD/GORD), and most of us are triggered by citrus fruit (oranges, lemons, limes) and also less acidic fruits apples, pears, apricots, peaches etc - which also contain citric acid and/or have tough to digest skins. After being accused of being a 'fussy eater' by my good-lady wife, as I only have a 'I Do Not Eat List, I decided to try and experiment to expand the 'I Do Eat List'. And here is my own personal revelation - dried fruits seem to be less acidic.
If you read the internet there is very little data on Ph levels of dried-fruit, but I have found that having dried apples, pears, apricots, prunes are all having significantly less affect on my reflux. I tended to have fruit in the morning - and I had sadly reduced to just a banana a day - till I realised this was setting my acid bubbling for the whole day, yet the internet says bananas are good for reflux, in my case since cutting out the banana and eating dried fruit instead, I'd say I've seen maybe a 25% drop in acid-reflux events.
Anyway, just wanted to share this - and I know those of us with CVA / reflux are all affected by different things - but knowing we should try and get 5 fruit/veg a day, the dried-fruit option may help.
