I now been prescripted omperloze and glavison in the long term. I have been given enough ompreloze for two months and a liter in total of glavison.(3 bottles).
My question is how do people work out when they need to order more? I have been told to take 10-20 ml (2 to 4 tsps) after every meal and one at bedtime. Then when as if you need to. ( As well as the omperolze twice a day)
I am trying to lose weight and I already follow acidic free diet due to having Painful bladder syndrome.
I due to see my consultant at the end of the month. I was prescription Glavison and Omperoloze by him as it was thought the acid reflux was due to the prednisolone I been taking. However it came back again two weeks after I stop the Omerproloze so the doctor decided the same routine to control my acid reflux as the consultant advised.
There has been some improvement in my symptoms as I don't have an achy chest and my sore throat has improved. I still feeling a bit sick (my main symptom when I was diagnosis last year). Then it got better and came back again in March with the added symptoms above.
Thoughts please.

Have you had an endoscopy to see what is going on? I went on like you for a couple of years and insisted I had an endoscopy and I was diagnosed with a hiatus hernia and Barrett's esophagus. Best to get it checked out xx
Hi Karjade no I have not been offered any tests from my GPs. I was tested last year for H.pylori and that was negative. I am going to discuss the acid reflux with my consultant when I see him. I have not had acid reflux constantly since I developed it last year. It went after treatment.
I have full confidence in my GP surgery that they know what they are doing. So I say once again that I am waiting to see what the consultant says.
Like Karjade I also had an endoscopy which revealed I had a Hiatus Hernia. With experimenting with different foods I am now ok. There are a lot of things I cant eat but it is a small price to pay.
Thanks for your input. I took know what's its like to have a restricted diet. I have alot of things I can't eat due to another long term health condition. Nonething acidic (e.g. tomatoes), no caffeine, chocolate, process meat e.g ham and sausage), soya, strong cheese,(mild and cream is ok) no wine etc (dont drink) mayonnasie, yogurt, spices (no curry), gravy or stock cubes juice or fizzy drink,no colours, sweetners and persatives (pickles)I can only eat in fruit apples(royal gala or pink ladies),pears, bananas, blueberries, melons and ruhbarb. This basically takes out all the things that would irriated my stomach.
I also on a diet so eating even less rich food.
If my consultant recommends further action then I will of course listen to his advice.
I have had oesophagitis and acid reflux diagnosed many years ago after an endoscopy long before I developed asthma. It was managed by intermittent periods of medication (Tagemet I think back then) and settled down in between bouts. Then in 1998 I developed quite painful stomach pain as well as the reflux . We were living in Germany at the time and I was sent for another endoscopy and tested for H. pylori which was negative, but I had a small duodenal ulcer. This was successfully treated with medication.
Two year later back in the UK I had some more allergiy tests (RAST blood tests) and found I couldn't tolerate citrus fruits. Cutting them out helped a lot. Now I take zantac almost continuosly which I find helps a lot more than the omizaprole (although I know doctors prefer it). It works slightly differently to the omaprozole. Likely cause for me is a combination of allergies and intolerance plus getting older the muscles (sphincter from the gullet to stomach) doesn't close as well. Very occassionally I take milk of magnesia. They usually do a trial of medication before an endoscopy unless v severe pain or bleeding. It can take several weeks to settle down.
No idea about the amount of glavison. I'd speak to either the pharmacy of GP by phone.
I have had really bad reflux 12 years. I am permanently on max dose Omzoprazole for past 6 years. It is great med. I suffered many years before a proper diagnosis. There could be many things causing it. Steriods can bring it to the fore. I have same food allergies as you. Have you been checked for Samter s Triad (allergy to Aspirin and Salicates)? I have this and it causes my gut and nad asthma attacks if i eat or get water in lining if my nose. I have a rare auto immune disease too so in permanent high dose steriods too. If the oral steriods cause a problem i.e. pred maybe Hydrocortisone may help? I take hydrocortisone now and iv pred.
I agree with others if symptoms persist you should get a check. Sometimes it can be a muscle. Sorry cannot explain but there is a injection that can be given uf it is a muscle in gut causing acid reflux. But it could be many things wrong so if it carries i2n further tests are needed. But really seems you have Samters Triad with the food allergies you have. All have Salicates in.
Only thing worrues me i was told from day one from consultants never to take Gaviscon ir anti acid meds whilst in Omzoprazole. Plus thet fiund out i was allergic to Gaviscom later.
Good luck. But please take care and do not leave it. Get further tests if it carries on.
