Pneumonia question

I’m 21, and when I was younger I had pneumonia 2 times. I believe I heard somewhere than when you get pneumonia, it’s not as bad when you get it again (if you do). I was wondering if there was any truth to this,

Thanks

No it is not I can assure you. I have had a number of outbreaks of pneumonia which resulted in my immune system getting extremely low resulting in being hospitalized for more than a week and sometimes in an isolation ward. Look after yourself

Me too. Last time I was in hospital with Pneumonia and a Pseudomonas colonisation (I have Bronchiectasis too) I ended up with Sepsis!!!

You do not build immunity by having pneumonia so it's possible to get another infection. If you are in an at risk group (in normal times) then your doctor would have arranged for a vaccine shot.

I believe it entirely depends on which bug is causing the pneumonia. Some are much less aggressive than others. Hence some people can stay out of hospital whilst others end up in ITU. The state of your lungs plays a big part too, of course
