Hi I just wondered if anyone else feels like they can’t take deep breaths but they’re still breathing? I don’t know if this is due to anxiety of all the stress going on right now or it’s my asthma flaring up? I’m not wheezing when I breath in though? Anyone feel the same?

Hi Jake! It could be either or it could be both in the sense that anxiety is making your asthma a little worse. My asthma certainly gets worse when I’m anxious/stressed.

I don’t know how your asthma normally presents and whether you normally wheeze or not, but whenever my asthma flares (as a result of any trigger) I find it difficult to take deep breaths and do not wheeze.

Hope that’s some help.

That’s great thank you! Nice to know someone else goes through it even though it is horrible what do you usually do when it flares up? Just live with it for a few days or?

Yes it does help to be part of a community like this where you can chat with others going through the same thing 😊👍

Does your blue reliever inhaler make a difference when you take it? Might be worth a chat with one of the helpful Asthma UK nurses.

Chest tightness is something I experience every day tbh (I’ve got severe asthma though) but it generally stays low level as long as I don’t do too much! I’m used to it now. But hoping it’ll improve once I re-start a drug called Xolair next month.

Hi yes it is great! & yes I’ve tried taking my blue inhaler but it doesn’t seem to make much difference I have my asthma nurse calling today so I’ll see how that goes :)

Hi, yes I’m having problems. I’m putting it down to tree pollen (I hope).

There are breathing exercises for asthma on YouTube. Very helpful to practice as it's calming.

Once you've mastered the exercises you can play some relaxing music to practice your breathing technique to.

In these fraught times it's good to switch off from all the news and announcements and speculations.

I completely relate to this! People can’t comprehend what I mean when I say this so although I feel awful that someone else feels the same I’m glad I’m not alone 🙈 I hope it’s something that will just pass in time for you cause it really does suck. All the best
