asthma attack while pregnant!

Last night i had a big scare with my asthma. Last night i was home alone baring in mind I'm 2 months pregnant my fiancé was out working. i did my normal night routine and went to bed at 10pm. Half way through the night i woke up with a really tight chest and could barely breathe. Within ten minutes i had taken 15 puffs of my blue inhaler and no improvement. I tried to get through to my fiancé but unfortunately there was no answer. I started to panick and my peep flow meter had dropped to 100. i managed to get my head together and ring 999. throughout this whole time i was still trying to get hold of my fiancé and let him know. i was so worried for not only my health but for my babies health as well i honestly thought i was gonna loose her or him. when paramedics arrived i was barely breathing with sats sitting at 91%. I just wanna say thank you to the paramedics for coming quickly and helping me every step of the way! the hospital team for supporting em and calming me down and my wonderful fiancé who rushed to the hospital as quick as possible and held my hand and supported me through the whole process. Luckily everything is okay and the baby is thriving and healthy! And for me I'm getting there just need a lot of rest and sleep.

Gosh that must have been so frightening for you. I just can’t imagine. Asthma attacks are bad enough without having the added worry of a little one. So relieved to hear that you are on the road to recovery and that your baby is perfectly well. You take care and rest as much as you need.

It sounds as though you kept calm and did everything right so, well done - you coped. I hope the rest of your pregnancy is less eventful!

That is so scary. I can't imagine. Do you know what triggered it? identifying it could help you avoid it during the rest of the pregnancy (?)

Hoping you two are getting lots of rest and recovery!! Take good care.

im not 100% on what triggered it but before i went to bed i did try out a new face cream and i did steam my face. i also did have an incense stick burning while sleeping so i think it might of been smoke related. And thank you we definitely are my fiancé has taken a week off work to make sure everything is okay. Im so lucky to have him

Thats what I'm going to do now but its really strange because before i got pregnant i was completely fine with them with m asthma and even during the beginning of my pregnancy but i guess its another trigger to add to my list haha but atlas now i know to stay away from them for atlas the rest of my pregnancy

Incense sticks remove my ability to breathe.

I can’t bear any kind of fragrance so avoid anything like incense sticks or home fragrance products of any sorts. My husband also makes sure that I’m well out of the room before he sprays his body spray. I would stay away from things like that in the future from now on if I were you.

Glad you’re starting to feel better though and baby is doing OK.
