Silent chest
What is silent chest infection ? Chest is infected but not aware of any symptoms- I guess?
Not heard that one before!
Hi Mary, the gp said my left lung is not working as it should, but realized I have been breathless but like most of us put it down to age and being slightly overweight.
I've had these sometimes - not entirely silent because they set off my asthma, but that could be various things and happens more often without infection. Zero typical chest infection symptoms but when the asthma sends me to A and E they do an X ray and there it is. I guess I do have some symptoms you but they are much more asthma than chest infection, so the infection part is definitely hiding.
First of all thanks for your reply, was shocked at first but thinking about it I have been breathless for a while just put it down to my age 65 and being slightly overweight!!!
You can develop asthma for the first time at any age. I was 69. at any age
I was shocked but as you say it can develop at any age
Our daughter had this with her asthma when she was eight. It was scary, but it cleared up fine. I had a partial one last Christmas, and with antibiotics and prednisolone it cleared.
oh so sorry to hear your little one was unwell,so glad it cleared up for her with medication.
Yes, these things can happen, and need to be taken seriously, but with that it does get better! So I hope you also will feel better soon, now that they have discovered it and you are getting treatment for it.
Thank you, hope your little is keeping well
Thank you! My little one is no longer so little. She is 36! And still has asthma. As she got a bit older, into later teens she would not let me talk to her about it. It was typically a case of her experiencing me as an anxious, and thus at times fussing mother. However, these days, as I am now also a sufferer (it’s in the family) she does, and it helps me! She is more aware of my breathing issues than I am! Or was. She is a great help and support when I need it.
thanks for the reply take care
When I had in silent chest from asthma I was rushed to ER, swarmed by people when I got there, told within two minutes that I was being admitted, and put in ICU.
Are you in hospital?
