Shout out to those struggling

With 2 very good friends struggling tonight (one in icu and one I suspect who should be on her way in), this is a shout out to everyone whose struggling in this heat, no matter how bad!

If you’re currently stuck in hospital I wish you a speedy recovery and if you’re struggling at home look after yourself and be sensible!

Thinking of you all and hope your lungs calm as the weather cools (and let’s hope the predicted thunderstorms aren’t too bad!)

Much love and keep breathing 😉

Agreed - thanks Emma! Steve the Snake lurves this heat.. still lurking despite my efforts (keeping an eye, it's just annoying at this stage!)

Hope the heat breaks soon and everyone gets some relief.

He needs to slither off I feel! Hopefully his cold blooded-ness will mean he chills out when it’s cooler and becomes less active for you!

He gets very greedy in this weather...no Steve, you don't need more salb. At least cats are cute when they do this kind of thing ('I'm starving no one feeds me!'). Steve is not at all cute.

I mean I did have a cat who decided ankles were tasty when he was hungry...maybe this is a variation.

Hiya EmmaF91,

I have to agree with those sentiments. Have had some bad days lately, feeling like chest is being pressed by a heavy weight. Have had to use humidifier and take catnap to wake up feeling a bit better.

Wheeze

Dizzy feeling

Not used to this heat in this country so symptoms very unexpected

The heat in the UK is a wet heat which is so bad for me. My mum always said the in the med on holiday my breathing was always so much better (dry heat). I looked at the humidity levels for the UK compared to Spain. UK was a similar temp but had 75% humidity compared to 33% in Madrid

I love everything that you post! So uplifting and informative.

I definitely needed to read this today. The last 2 weeks have been undeniably horrendous for me, with me debating with myself far too many times as to whether or not I needed to take myself to hospital.

Hope your two friends are on the mend and sending all the love back at ya ✌🏽💛

I tend to find if I’m debating like that I do need to go but am just ostriching about the situation. Look after yourself, follow your plan and GP or a&e if you’re struggling! You know what to do so don’t be an ostrich 😉. Hope it all calms down soon for you

(And thank you 🤞🏻☺️😅)

Haha- I promise that going forward I won’t be an ostrich!

Totally agree Emma, we can become rather adept at the ostrich scenario! One way to look at it is “what advice would you give a friend if they were in the scenario you are in?!”

Take care everyone, been a tough year so far for many x

Agreed! Hope everyone else is coping and the weather sorts itself out soon.

Currently feeling very thankful that my lungs have decided to respond to treatment tonight! 🐍

No room at the inn for both you and Steve... but without Steve you don’t need a room 😉. Glad things have calmed for you! Hope it lasts!!! 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

You just wanted to avoid the hippos (and reduce the risk of getting a donkey... ;) ) Glad it's settled, hope Steve lets you sleep.

Had a hilarious rabbits 🐇 scenario today! Had my first appointment at major centre Vasculitis clinic today as they are trying to find out what else is going on with my poor wrecked bod! Was called in to the room by this poor chap who introduced himself and said “I am a Registrar but almost completed my training. I fully understand if you would rather see a Consultant today!” I paused and said “I don’t want to offend you and if this was a follow up appointment I would have been happy to see you, but as a first appointment I do think maybe the complexities of my case may be better served by a Consultants viewpoint” at which his rabbits in the headlights looked changed to huge relief and he couldn’t agree with me quick enough! 🤣

He admitted that when he had read my referral and back up info my GP had sent and the fact I am under so many specialists in different hospitals, he wouldn’t have been able to give me any answers anyway as would have had to take it to an MDT meeting!

He couldn’t wait to bulldoze me back out to the waiting room before I could change my mind! 🤣😂

Consultant was great and she is doing a number of further referrals and making real inroads! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

However, all I kept thinking was how much of a classic rabbit that poor Reg was 🐰 x

Thanks for the kind words! I'm feeling frustrated after a bad attack. Had dinner at a friend's house on Friday and we ate in their garden. Turns out their neighbors' cats sleep in their yard and all over their patio furniture all day and I am still allergic 5 days later. So hard to stay out of these flares!

Hope everyone else is staying well. Im currently recovering at home after a weeks stay in hospital. I was very much an ostrich my mum dragged me to the hospital while i was insisting i was totally fine. Got there and a&e consultant told me off. He was right i shouldn't have waited so long to go in but not every consultant listens as well as he did and all i wanted to do was sleep not have an argument about 'real' asthma symptoms

EmmaF91 profile image
EmmaF91Community Ambassador in reply toK8ty25

I know the feeling! Just remember you can’t know what response you’ll get until you give them a try... and an ‘arguement’ to get treatment is better then getting no treatment at all! No ostriching and I hope you start to feel better soon

Thanks Emma. Over the worst of it now. Just doing the rest and recover bit which to be honest is what i find hardest. I just want to be better instantly. Going a bit stir crazy in the house!

EmmaF91 profile image
EmmaF91Community Ambassador in reply toK8ty25

I always find that part the hardest too! Not gonna lie I have pushed myself too hard too fast in the past... it never ended well 😅. Hope you find something to keep yourself entertained but also your lungs happy!

Yes me too so im forcing myself to take things slowly. I crochet so usually use my recovery to try a complicated pattern. Keeps my brain engaged!

Lysistrata profile image

Yep same! I'm like so why am I not better? Then try to do things too soon. I am lucky to have an understanding work who have even said maybe you shouldn't try to work just yet (I suspect I may have been talking rubbish as well lol). I get frustrated because I can't even engage my brain with life admin - I think oh this would be a good chance to ...brain is like hahaha no go back to reading children's books! Hope you recover soon K8ty25 - I also know the feeling of I cba to have an argument with an idiot, do I have to?

I'm 3 weeks out but had a very busy long weekend with my toddler nephew so now feel like "just out" again and am trying to get on with some crochet but it's so draining 😣
