Hi, thank you for acceptance. I'm new to the forum. My question is...

I'm one month pregnant and I use seretide inhaler. I have been worried if it will affect my baby. Please, anyone with such experience? Thank you.

I would talk this through with your doctor as I don’t know the specific effect of sertide on pregnancy but generally speaking if your on a inhaler or most medication in fact they would much rather you continue and be stable on what you on. Especially so in asthma as pregnancy can trigger asthma symptoms in some x

It's a class A drug in the states which means safe for pregnancy. It's more dangerous for the mother to have an asthma flare up during pregnancy than it is to treat it with inhaled steroids that largely remain in the lungs and don't go into the system (i.e. womb). Millions of mothers have taken seretide, advair, symbicort etc. while pregnant. Hope that helps!

My first pregnancy used inhalers and my asthma actually improved. 2nd pregnancy my asthma was awful up to 30 weeks. Not scaremongering, there is a point to this. I was treated at the respiratory clinic. At that point he explained if I had to take steroids for the rest of my pregnancy then I would be fine. Prednisone didn't pass through the placenta to the baby.

It was a priority to make sure my asthma was well controlled and then if I am fine the baby is safe and happy. All went well after that and I had my beautiful babys.

Your doctor midwife will reassure you and I hope you are well and my story helped.
