I’m due to have first Benralizumab injection later in the month and wondered what I should expect. Although I have done a bit of research on line I’m still a little in the dark. How long am I likely to have to wait a to check for any allergic reactions? Will it effect being able to drive? I know everyone is different but how soon before it made any difference?
Any help is much appreciated

Hi, I started Benra injection recently. They will keep you in the clinic for half an hour or so in case of allergic reaction. I believe this is quite rare. It definitely helps with my asthma though I do experience some muscle weakness. as has been said, everybody is different. I found it helpful to look up patient reviews to see how others got on. Good luck.
Hi, I have been on Benralizumab (Fasenra) for eosinophilic asthma for 3 yrs now and it has completely changed my life. Before Fasenra, I was on Prednisolone steroids on a monthly basis, regular breathlessness, hacking coughs, taking Ventolin frequently and Fostair morning and night. Since Fasenra my asthma has been completely transformed. Not a single bout of breathlessness, no uncontrollable coughs, and I just complement the Fasenra with Fostair in the morning. I don't take Fostair in the evening. I've not needed Ventolin and no steroids for last 3 yrs.
There were absolutely no side effects at all to Fasenra - literally none, not even of the mildest kind. And for me Fasenra worked instantly. The very next morning after the 1st injection my chest felt clearer and breathing was easier. After that it just got better and better. I realise not everyone's experience of Fasenra is the same, and it doesn't work as effectively for all, and/or it can take some months before the benefit is felt. But for me it has been a miracle! I hope it works well for you.
Benra has been pretty magic for me too - I was able to taper off prednisolone over about 4 months, then drop the Uniphyllin, then Montelukast, which in itself made me feel better. I still need Fostair 200/6 twice a day and Spiriva but the asthma control feels much less precarious.
The only side effect for me is feeling very tired and achy the day after taking the Benra, but I now inject on a Friday evening so I sleep off most of that.
Hi mutley I have been on this injection now for a few years now i was told if I was going to have a reaction to the drug it would happen the first time of having it .that why I had to have it in the hospital by the nurses .I have now been on it a few years now .and I have it delivered the company and my husband does it for me every 8 weeks x
