Had a cough since last Tuesday, got worse by the weekend and found I was using my inhalers a lot more due to chest tightness. Woke up at 1am this morning with a harsh, sharp pain in my chest when breathing in and out. Went down to a&e, Chest x Ray was clear, peak flow was okay and was given steroids and antibiotics, and was told to book asthma check up at drs along with a follow appt from my a&e visit. I was then sent home but I’m still feeling chest tightness and this sharp pain when I breathe in along with a crackling noise.
Shall I see how I go or do I need to speak to a dr?
Thank you xx

Sounds like a chest infection and would explain the antibiotics and steroids from a and e.... I also get a sharp pain in the back of my shoulder blade that hurts like helll also breathing in hurts like hell and makes me cough
The good news is the steroids should help you breathe a bit easier quite quickly (a few hours to a day or two) the antibiotics depending on what they have given you can take 3-4 days to "take hold" and start kicking ass
However the cough and asthma issues "flare up" can last for weeks
IF you are coughing stuff up a steam inhalation might help as it loosens any mucus. As Chip_y2uk said the antibiotics take a couple of days to kick in. I'd keep an eye on your peak flow, drink plenty of fluids, and possibly sleep uprught if it helps? If it gets worse see the doctor or go back to A and E if necessary. Good that they did a chest xray plus medications. If your ablity to breathe gets worse then definitely speak to a dr. Did they give you a diagnosis?
