Reducing dose of Prednisolone side effects

After needing a long course of Prednisolone 20 days and now on reducing dose down 5g every 3 days. I now started to suffer side effects (on day 2 of 7g). I have the shakes, acid reflux (being treated with prescribed anti acids from today. The GP says they don't prescribed coated acid resistant ones) Shame as I had them at the beginning of this course and they really helped.

My sleep was better last night but don't need to be shaking like this as I have a trial morning at a new job tomorrow.

Thoughts and advice please

Not sure about the GP's advice. I'm on a maintenance dose of 5mg per day and always have the gastro-resistant ones.

My own experience with pred. has been that it is effective for me at much lower doses than those prescribed . By using lower doses I have managed to reduce the side effects , particularly the insomnia .

Try gaviscon- ask the pharmacist for the strongest one. Try not to eat big meals before lying down and if possible have several smaller meals rather than lunch/dinner. I get terrible reflux on pred. I also get shakey and anxious, so you could try calming breathing techniques?

Oops just read that you are on prescribed antacids! Ignore the gaviscon bit 🙈

thanks for the advice I am a bit shaky today but been a new job has taken my mind off it completely. In fact the class I was working in was doing breathing exercise to calm themselves. Really help.
