Was I’ll on Sunday. Staff in the walk in centre were brilliant. On my was to hospital, my condition deteriorated so much, that the paramedics had to give adrenaline. They said that it was needed. Can anyone explain why this would have been given. I was in no fit state to ask questions. What would have been the implications if I hadn’t had it?

Adrenaline
I heard adrenaline can help give a patient a fighting chance to fight. It is used in allergic reaction to something. You might had an allergic reaction to something. I would recommend to try and recall what they said. I would also try and find out what the hospital said about what happened so you can try and avoid it again.
Hi
In very severe attacks the body starts to shut down. Your resp rate drops, as do your sats, BP and HR, and if left this can end in respiratory collapse (requiring intubation) and even death. Adrenaline is like a ‘restart’ button, which stimulates your ‘fight or flight’ response and can make things start working again.
They only way to avoid needing this is to not ‘let’ your asthma get as bad again 😕. It’s hard to judge, unless you’re really aware of your condition, especially if you get ‘sudden’ attacks rather than the slow building ones. Best bet is think about how bad you felt when you went to the walk-in and next time you’re at that level call an ambo straight away (cut out the middle man so to say).
I hope you’re starting to feel better now and that you’re being looked after x
It turned out when go saw me 2 days later and was ill again, that I had pneumonia.
