Asthma or Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis

Does anyone here suffer from idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis? Either with or without asthma?

I’m curious to know how a GP might rule out idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis when patients present with asthma symptoms .

Hi Deborah, just seen your post. I have I.P.F mild stages. I was treated for asthma for ten years but never thought I had it. Had X-ray after bout of pneumonia and they found shadowing on my lungs. Then CT scan that confirmed IPF!

Only way gp can detect it is a sound of Velcro pulling apart when listening to lungs and difficulty breathing. Hope this helps. Marilyn

Yes, that’s helpful, Marilyn. Thank you. I hope you’re not in too much discomfort with your lungs. Good at least that the scan picked up the IPF.
