Hi! I get chest pain with my asthma. When I have it, it gets worse when I try to take deep breaths or move around. I get various different types - it can be sharp/stabbing in one location or a broader, duller band of pain around my chest. I'm not sure whether chest pain is a very common asthma symptom as every GP I've mentioned it to either tries to tell me it's a result of anxiety (but I am very calm with my asthma) or it's heart-related (but it's not as I've had ECGs done). I always get these pains when I get asthma exacerbations, so I'm convinced they are asthma-related.

Hi Doodlesisme, yes I get a dragging ache low down in my chest, which is often worst at night and if I've over done it, and only relieved by a shed load of ventolin or my fostair as a reliever. I've been up most of last night with the pain plus tightness - resorted to 10 puffs over 10 minutes in the end. My consultant says it's not uncommon to get chest pain with asthma. BTW I'm fairly new at this and have found the Asthma UK nurses brilliant to talk thing through with. I highly recommend giving them a call 😀

It could be trapped wind as when youre having an attack you are more likely to swallow air, or muscle pain from laboured breathing or even silent reflux as this can feel like chest pain.

If difference in Peak flow before and after medication that's asthma. You will notice a difference when you take your medication as well if it is asthma. Hot water bottle helps.

Pain in my chest was awful before I got diagnosed asthma they initially said costochronditis. You could also have reflux that causes chest pain. Always better to get this checked out to exclude significant issues.
