Amlodipine side effects

Hi Greggs,
I had a reaction to Amlopodine, I was coughing more and getting breathless.
They swapped me to Ramipril, this caused my legs & ankles to swell up, so I am now on Candesartan, I seemed to be OK with this and I have been on it for 12 years now.
I am fine on Amlodipine.
I posted here a few months ago that I’d found an improvement in my breathing after starting amlodipine - the action of the calcium channel blocker relaxing the airway smooth muscle. But it does say on the leaflet that one of the (negative) side effects can be breathlessness.
But I couldn’t tolerate the ankle swelling and indigestion and stomach pains, so I’m now trying felodipine - I’m reluctant to lose the unexpected positive from a CCB, so I’m hoping I’ll find one that I can get on with!
I am not on anymore but I got took of it because it was giving me severe ankle swelling and increased breathing difficulties. I am felodipine which is a newer tablet without the leg swelling problem. That doesn’t effect my asthma so I am lucky. Maybe you could suggest it to your doc
Thankyou
I was on it years ago. It didn’t as far as I can remember cause me breathlessness, but ankles really swelled. So I was put on Ramapril, which was, and is, fine for me. Then once when I was bad with asthma including an irritated throat it was changed to felodipine. That brought my swollen ankles back, big time, especially in summer, so I asked to be changed back to Ranipril. I am still on that and it works better for me.
I was on Rampiril for over a year coughed so much gave me a sore throat just made my life unbearable.
Absolutely could not take Ramapril. Changed diet, lost weight, got fitter, bp went down. 👍
