Cramp in back of my leg
I get cramp a lot, mostly in my my feet, but also my legs - mostly in my calves, but also my shins etc, my back, my chest, my hands.
I do struggle with it, but some times are much worse than others. The things I have found that make a difference are: keeping hydrated, so drink water. Keeping warm, especially my feet. Keeping moving - it is much less of a problem when I am up and about than when I am sitting still for too long. If I do I then get cramps in the night. Sitting on a chair that is right for me. I have quite short legs, so I need quite a low chair. If I sit for a long time on too high a chair, I get pressure at the back of my thighs and that can really lead to bad cramp a little later or the following night. Anything that keeps the circulation in your legs going well helps so all of the above.
I have just read that vitamin D deficiency can make cramp worse. I have just found out I am deficient and now take extra vitamin d to build up my store of it. Also it has been suggested that lack of potassium and magnesium can make a difference, but I am unclear how true that is. There is also a medication, quinine, but it has nasty side effects, so I won’t ask for that.
Some medications make it worse, like some asthma medications and others.
Recently I've been getting terrible cramp. I never ger it normally. But its been even waking me and night. Im taking alot of ventolin atm and that can cause deficiencies. My gp ordered a blood test to check all my levels. Waiting on the results. If cramp is unusual fpr you, it may be a side effect of one of your medications. Hope you get some relief soon.
I used to get really bad foot cramp, but it seems to have eased. I think the doctor said it was an iron deficiency. I still get restless legs, mostly in the right leg. It's particularly bad at the moment. I've been told that increasing your potassium intake helps. Banana tea is good. Here's a video for how to make it. I've found that it helps, but the darn kids keep eating my bananas!
when I use my blue reliever, salbutimal, a lot I get cramp about 3 days later.
Had this cramp in back of the leg on and off for the past 2 weeks, and maybe it is to do with my inhalers. Off to doctors so we will see.
I know it was 10 months ago, but I found Braltus gave me far more cramps than anything else did.
It started giving me unpleasant gastric problems though, and as someone in remission from Ulcerative colitis, I didn't want it to get worse. (It also gave me similar side effects to steroids which I can't tolerate: bloating and back pain).
