Hi i have severe asthma and also rheumatoid arthritis. I work part time I a non strenuous job, which I find beneficial for my mental health. I get DLA, and need to switch to p.i.p. I wasn't going to bother as I have been told it's very hard to get this award. I mentioned this to my GP, and she says I won't have any problem getting this and she would help in any way she could. Has anyone else with asthma etc who works part time been awarded this?

Hi it's not about what illness you have but how it affects you. I should think with severe asthma and RA you should have no trouble getting PIP. It's good your doctor is supporting you and I am sure she would be happy to provide you with any written proof you need. Go for it as you have nothing to lose and possibly a lot to gain. x
Yes I in same situation an got it straight away good luck x
If you want help with the application contact your local citizens advice bureau and they should be able to help you
The Citizens Advice Bureau is helpful and their web site has a useful step by step aid to claiming. It is about HOW the illness effects you. I transferred from DLA to PIP. If you go through the PIP criteria and make a note of the ones that apply and give examples then that all adds to the picture. I asked your GP to write a letter explaining how your illness effects you related to the relevant criteriaas supporting evidence.
