I can't give you a complete answer as I don't suffer from cluster headaches but do take amtriplyine daily 50mg for another long term health condition. (Painful bladder syndrome)

I been talking it for about 4 years longer than my asthma has been gone from mild to moderate (29 months). It hasn't made any change to my asthma. I do make sure to mention it any time I need to tell a medical professional who doesn't know what drugs I am on. As there may be an interaction with a new inhaler or treatment they want to give me.

Hope this helps in any way.

I took amitriptyline 10 mg for about six months and it did not affect my asthma at all. It was the side effects I could not tolerate with this drug and my doctor took me off it and I am now on Gabapentin.

What were the side effects

Not everybody gets side effects but they made me feel suicidal, heart pounding, sleepy and brain fog and I was on the lowest dose. Gabapentin which is a similar drug does not give me any side effects. You may be fine on it xxx

Hi, I take 100mg every night for my bladder condition and my rheumatoid arthritis for many years now and it has never affected my asthma. Hope this helps x

Thanks. I only asked because I've taken medication before and had bad interactions.

Yes I can understand why you ask about side effects. I generally don't look at the leaflet that comes with a medication unless I haven't asked the doctor who prescribed it or do have possible side effect.

It doesn't mean I don't take it seriously but you can get too wrapped up in things. The more you know your body by observations and history the better you become good at judging what works or not works for you. We all different.

I take it to help me sleep through the night. This is for my other long term health condition (painful bladder Sydrome) which can have you up at night.

That's one of the side effects so not all bad. It's can't unfortunately trump a prednisolone course after an asthma attack that keeping me awake at the moment.

Glad you got a good night last night.lol I looking forward to a available good night tonight last steroid tablets this morning.

I have taken my amitriptilyne for a couple of days now. However last night I had heart palpitations 160bpm. Should I keep taking them.

Just an update, I have been given Pizotifen for cluster headache, in place of Amitriptyline because they gave me palpitations. Has anyone had any ecperience of these.
