Asthma T-shirts

Hi there,

I am interested in buying an asthma awareness t-shirt/breathe easy type t-shirt. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to buy from? Does AUK do things like this?

Cheers! xxx

AUK have them for volunteers. I don't know if they sell them but you could get in touch with AUK and ask.

Will do, thanks. x

You can get all sorts of T-shirts and other stuff from here - they might have one:

cafepress.co.uk/

Had a look Philomena, really brilliant place, the only thing I would say is that some of the stuff for Asthma is a Americanized.

Katina, I noticed that, even on the co.uk site! They often use the American spellings as well - maybe they just sell the same stuff on both sites and there aren't as many English-designed ones.

There seemed to be an awful lot of occupational therapist T-shirts for some reason - are there a lot of unemployed OTs in the US who are trying to promote themselves?!

I have to admit to browsing through the geeky ones - I spent a bit of time on the law section as I studied law once and still know enough to find law jokes amusing (shameful admission...)

Saw this from 'the big sing song page', to order fundraising materials including t-shirt, asthma.org.uk/what_you_can_...

Pins and ribbons

On a similar vein I've been looking for a pin badge or ribbon, similar to the sort of thing you see for other charities, like breast cancer awareness etc. Do Asthma UK make/sell such a thing?

Must admit that I have noticed a shortage of such things, I know that there were a few charity badges done a few years ago, such as the bag puss ones but in general compared to many other medical conditions and charities such as breast cancer, aids, heart foundation etc which all produce badges, ribbons, bands etc, asthma has very little.

Maybe things like this could be produced / sold to raise awareness and money.

I am not saying that I am proud to be asthmatic but I am not ashamed of it and would be quite prepared to wear something to highlight the condition, whether it be badges, bands, shirts, caps etc, or something beneficial to asthmatics such as something like an Asthma UK inhaler pouch, medication bags, medical alrert tags etc.

Maybe we could with some kind of Asthma Uk online shop.

Just wondered what others thought ?

YorkieIron, I think that's a great idea, more than anthing it would help raise awareness (and hopefully funds) for the AUK charity. I know several healthcare professionals who had no knowledge of AUK so if nothing else having AUK pins keyrings etc could help other asthmatics find and benefit from the work that AUK do. I do feel that more awareness could generate more donations to the charity, but more importantly educate the general public about asthma, how serious it can be and what to do if someone they are with has an attack. Personally I'd like to see a public health campaign educating about how to recognise and deal with an asthma attack , similar to the ones for heart attacks (remember the ad with the picture of a man with a belt round his chest), and stroke (think F.A.S.T.), although really I feel quite strongly that *EVERYONE* should make sure they have a basic knowledge of first aid.

They definitely have them, we have KAH TShirts with the holiday places and dates on the back and there are also some awesome bright green TShirts with the purple transfers on them about. They are definitely about.

I love the idea of inhaler pouches with AUK on and/or KAH for kids that have been on hols. Would be great advertisement and good way of generating funds. Everyone would want a bright green or purple inhaler pouch, right?!!!

Just did a google search for puffapouches and one hit came up on the KAH forum and apparently in 2006 they were going to use the characters of KAHs to design a pouch for AUK. Don't know if this actually happened or not and if so are they still available. When you go on the puffapouches website it is hard to find any way to contact anyone so not sure how yopu would find out.

Yorkieiron, you're a genius. Some sort of online shop selling AUK stuff would be great.

great idea yorkieiron, definately needed.

Spacer/inhaler case would be so handy too

Something like this for an epi-pen too would be good. As much as I love pink I would definitely go for cases in the green and purple!

Yeah great idea!

Little lime green wigs for inhalers please - we may as well make them look cool! And stick on eyes.

Hee hee, i feel a Desmond come back about to happen!!! With the lid as the mouth of a dragon.

I too, would be really pleased to support Asthma through bands, ribbons or tshirts! Anything to highlight what a dreadful condition it is. It is soooo very under-rated. I wish there was a way to let folk now how devastating it can be!

Please let me know if there is any advance on this or if there's anything that can be done by us to support the issue. I'd be more than happy.

Seems to be some interest, wonder if it is now something that Asthma Uk will consider ?

If not asthma Uk, what about seeing how plausible it is to get them made up to sell to raise money for KAH if AUK not interested?

Think you can get them from AUK if u ring up about fund raising x

To be fair though people shouldn't have to ring up to enquire, if these are available (along with any other fund raising merchandise) it should be plastered all over the site, easy to order and easy to pay for, eg paypal.

Asthma UK T Shirts are available to those who fund raise, I have some because I am fund raising for my hubby's AUK Beach to Beach Bike Ride.

For anyone wanting to highlight Asthma why don't you take the opportunity of World Asthma Day on 4th May. I am doing a street collection dressed up as a fairy in LIme and Purple, along with Lottie Dog who will also be dressed up.

There are all sorts of way to raise awareness, get in touch with AUK, they are lovely bunch. I too feel it would be nice to wear something that not only highlights Asthma but raises money. I think the rubber wrist bands have seen better days, hardly anyone seems to wear them now. Though I did see one charity sells friendship bands with a single bead on them. Perhaps a lime and purple band could be created with a AUK designed emblem bead.
