Magnesium is considered by many to be a Master Nutrient.

Magnesium together with Potassium are probably the most important nutrients to ensure you have adequate concentrations of.

Magnesium availability directly impacts potassium making the two synergistic.

Potassium Requirement is one of the main reason we’re told to eat lots of fruit and veg.

You can’t safely supplement Potassium beyond 100mg a day via pills, and shouldn’t try to supplement it in pill form without GP Consent. According to USA and UK Daily intake recommendations, you need about 3 to 4 Grams of Potassium a day (which takes huge consumption of fruit, veg, lentils etc at breakfast, lunch and dinner).

The different forms Magnesium comes in is important for bioavailability so you need to get the right one.

It’s better, as with all nutrients, to intake small amounts frequently (from food sources) into your system. I do it all wrong by taking just over a full days quota - via a 400mg Magnesium Citrate Pill once Daily. (I should stop doing that as it’s probably doing far more harm than good).

These and other supplements (especially at high concentrations) can impact the body in the same way as drugs. They may interfere (dangerously) with medicines you’ve been prescribed or meds you’re later prescribed.

Make sure you search for the supplement name (e.g. Magnesium) adding the word ‘toxicity’ when doing your research. Plus talk to your GP before supplementing and check your medications on Drugs.com which lists supplements, drugs and food that conflict Seriously, Moderately or Mildly with any prescribed Med name you enter.

Magnesium is very important but needs to be approached with caution and respect.
