prednisolone not helping yet

got given prednisolone because my cough was very bad and was not sleeping and i was wheezing. have taken them exactly how the doctor has asked me to 8 at once , one time a day . 2 days now and i am still coughing rough.

It can take a while! You should be beginning to notice a difference. But when your lungs get very inflamed any little thing can trigger coughing. Sugar free boiled sweets help as does lemon and honey. Keep on drinking lots of water to thin out the mucus. If you do not have a productive cough you can try the Butekyo stop cough method. Lots of instruction on you tube.

However it takes time to heal. If you are not considerably better after 4 days of steroids you need to go back to the doctor.

I'm on my 2nd dose of antibiotics and 2nd lot of Preds,

Had 7 days Clarithromycin from 20th Dec started 40mg preds 24th Dec, back at GP on 28th still wheezing & coughing up mucus, given Co-Amoxiclav & 7 days 40mg preds.

I hoped to stay free this year as I was swapped from Omalizumab to Mepolizumab, this is the worst I have been since they swapped my meds.

People came in to work with coughs, colds & chest infections and I have ended up getting it worse than them. I tried the usual home remedies + cough & cold medicines, they only held off the inevitable for a day or so.

I finished work on 23rd and won't be back until 2nd (hopefully).

This does seem to be hanging around longer than usual, I agree with risabel59, you must go back to your GP to get help if things don't improve, or if necessary go to A&E, I always do when I'm really poorly and when I cannot get to my GP.

I've had my cough off and on since August. Had three regimens of Prednisone and one bottle of cough medication. I haven't bothered going back to my doctor because all he'll do is put me on Prednisone again. This last round of coughing is the result of coughing up stomach acid and getting it in my lungs. I'm using OTC cough stuff and it actually works ok but I have to have surgery in a couple weeks so does anyone have any suggestions? How long does it take for your lungs to heal after that? Thanks
